School Protection Officer Program will begin in Jasper City Schools

jpd

The police department will add a uniformed, tactile officer to patrol Jasper City Schools.  SPOs are trained on intelligence gathering, early warning systems and signs, as well as threat assessments.  The officers will conduct informational and training sessions for teachers, students, and school staff on emergency safety practices.  The SPO program will be one piece of the comprehensive school safety plan to help keep students and staff safe.  Dr. Jackson stated, "We anticipate the SPO program will help bring an added layer of security to schools. There is nothing more important than keeping our students safe."

Attached is the article published in the local news, Daily Mountain Eagle, on Sunday, August 11, 2019.

If you have question about the SPO program, please contact the Jasper City Police Department.
