Jasper City Board of Education 2016-2017

Board Members

BOARD MEETINGS:  The Jasper City Board of Education conducts regular meetings on the fourth Monday of each month at 5:00 p.m. in the central office board room, unless otherwise stated.  In addition, special called meetings and work sessions are held as necessary.  The public is welcome to attend, except as may otherwise be required or permitted by law as executive sessions.

Members of the Jasper City Board of Education are appointed by the Jasper City Council for five-year terms. Each year, one member rotates off the board and is replaced by a new appointee. Members may be reappointed for another five years at the city council's discretion.

According to the Alabama Association of School Boards, board members are generally laymen, not educators.  Their primary role is to provide the local community a voice in the management of the school district.  Board members are civic-minded individuals who give endless time and energy to make certain the district's schools meet and exceed local expectations.

The administration, faculty, and staff of the Jasper City Schools salute the board members for their leadership and service to the Jasper City Schools.
