Members of the Jasper City Board of Education are appointed by the Jasper City Council for five-year terms. Each year, one member rotates off the board and is replaced by a new appointee. Members may be reappointed for another five years at the city council's discretion. The Jasper City Board of Education conducts regular meetings on the fourth Monday of each month at 5:00 p.m. in the central office board room. The public is welcome to attend.
According to the Alabama Association of School Boards, board members are generally laymen, not educators. Their primary role is to provide the local community a voice in the management of the school district. Board members are civic-minded individuals who give endless time and energy to make certain the district's schools meet and exceed local expectations.
