The Jasper City School System is happy to announce our involvement with the Walker County HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters) program this year. Applications for the 2017-18 program are now being accepted. This program is a free service to parents in Jasper and Walker County.
Long before they start school, children naturally engage in exploration, play, and learning from their first and most important teachers – their parents. Through HIPPY, the classic home-based preschool education program, parents acquire new knowledge, confidence, and skills which build on their capacity to teach and the child’s to learn – and to love doing so together.
Dedicated to the principles of equal educational opportunity and social inclusion, HIPPY works with communities and families worldwide, helping parents and carers to nurture children’s readiness for school and their motivation to reach their highest potential. This program is available in 21 states and our local program is one of 129 sites nationwide.
You can contact Rita Pilling @ the Jasper City Board of Education if you have any questions (205-384-6880).
If you are interested in being involved in this program – please complete the attached application and contact Kim Hobson at (205)522-3390. Space is limited so please contact Ms. Hobson today.
