The Jasper 7th-9th grade wrestlers attended the Sean Still Tournament this past weekend and had a great showing. The team finished 5th out of 15 teams, had many place in the top 4 in their weight classes, and a few one match away from placing.
To show our support for our Jasper Viking Volleyball Team, students who attend the Girls Varsity Volleyball 6A State Championship Quarterfinal and Semifinal games on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 will be excused by the principal.
In order to be excused by the principal, students must be able to produce an unaltered ticket proving that they were in attendance. Good luck, Viking Volleyball Team! #GoVikes
8th Grade students have been assigned individual laptops and will be bringing those home today. Please make sure that the laptops are cared for properly and charged each night. Students will be using the laptops daily. They should be returned each day. 7th grade have been assigned laptops but they will use them only at school.
Jasper's show choir will perform their fall show for the community tomorrow night at 7:00 PM. Residents are invited to the Pam Brown Theater to see all the hard work that has been put into the show. The show costs $5 but is free for JCS students.
Student of the Quarter is a prestigious award meant to recognize our students who are high-achieving in the classroom and and solid citizens in the hallways. For this nine weeks, those leaders were Garrett Pschirer, Dayion Johnson, Jose Bernardo Ponce-Ac, and Ashton Prescott. Great Job!
There will be an open house tomorrow, October 24 from 4:00-6:00 PM for parent visitation with teachers or for tours of the new building. Please come to partner with teachers to help your child succeed!

The JJHS library recently added a variety of high interest books for all students. The new library is categorized by genre, and the genre that was lacking the most was the sports genre. So, books from names like Derek Jeter, John Feinstein and Mike Lupica were added. Series books is romance, fantasy/sci-fi and suspense were added as well!

JJHS students were in for quite the change when they arrived for a new school year this year. With the restructuring of schools, students who assumed they would be at Maddox through the 8th grade had an opportunity to go to a brand new school.
JJHS students will experience homecoming for the first time at the new school on October 5th. The homecoming festivities include a "Neon Party" dance, dress-up days, a pep rally, and 2 football games against the Bessemer City Tigers.
The 8th grade will be taking the annual trip to Washington DC for the Washington Workshop this February. Sign-ups and payments are underway. Each year, JJHS students get to experienced much of the capital's culture. Sites visted include the White House, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Capitol Building and many others.

JHS students who scored a 30 or higher on the ACT were recognized at the Jasper City Schools' Board Meeting.
There will be a jr high parent meeting for cheerleading hopefuls on 2/22 @5:30 PM in the MADDOX Intermediate library. The tryout clinic will be March 5-8, with tryouts on March 9.

Mrs. Kennedy's 8th grade built cars as part of a STEAM assignment. They used the cars to calculate speed and time in a cool way.
Student Council and National Junior Honor Society are teaming up to sponsor a Valentine's Dance called Hearts for the Humane Societies. This is going to take place on February 12th from 6-7:30. Students will be required to donate a pet supply in order to gain entry. These supplies will be distributed between our local shelters and rescues.
Effective August 1, 2018, Jasper City Schools will be implementing a "Bag Check Procedure" for all individuals gaining access to all home athletic events.
The following students auditioned and weere selected for the Alabama Bandmaster’s District 3 All-District Honor Band. District 3 is comprised of 11 counties in northwest Alabama.
They will be attending the All-District honor band on February 16 & 17 at Russellville High School.

The Jasper City School System received a B as a final grade on the state report card. The Jasper City School System scored above the state average on every indicator.
