Walker High School senior Allison Farris is the new 2011 Walker County Junior Miss. Walking away with awards totaling $2500, Allison won not only the scholarship competition, but also the awards for best talent, fitness, and self-expression at the local competition on August 31, 2010. She performed a classical piano selection, "Pour le piano I. Prelude" for her talent. Allison is considering piano performance and political science for her college majors, with plans to attend New England Conservatory and the University of Alabama. She will compete in the Alabama Junior Miss program in Montgomery January 14 and 15, 2011.

Walker High ACT Scores Released |

On August 18, 2010, ACT announced its annual summary assessment data for schools across the nation. According to the release, the average ACT score of students in the 2010 Walker High School graduating class was 21.2. This score exceeded both the state average of 20.3 and the national average of 21.0.

Jim 'N Nick's and Walmart Partnership Benefits Excellence in Education Fund |

On Saturday, August 7, 2010, Jim 'N Nick's partnered with Walmart to benefit the JCS Excellence in Education Fund. Shoppers were able to purchase Jim 'N Nick's food items in the Walmart parking lot. Proceeds of $1000.00 will go to the JCS Excellence in Education Fund.
